  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract and then the eggs, one at a time.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls and then roll into the red, white, and blue sprinkles.
  6. Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  8. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality sprinkles that won’t bleed their color. Store in an airtight container.
