Enjoy a taste of the islands with this Loco Moco Hawaiian Bowl! A hearty and flavorful dish featuring a juicy hamburger patty, creamy gravy, and a perfectly fried egg, all served over a bed of fluffy rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • Optional: green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into a patty.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the hamburger patty for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, creating a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Add soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened.
  5. While gravy simmers, fry the egg to your liking (sunny-side up, over easy, etc.).
  6. To assemble the bowl, place rice in a bowl. Top with the hamburger patty, gravy, and fried egg.
  7. Garnish with green onions, if desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra touch, consider adding a sprinkle of Furikake seasoning over the rice and egg.
