Italian Garlic Bread Joes

These Italian Garlic Bread Joes are a fun and easy twist on classic sloppy joes! Savory ground beef is simmered in a rich tomato sauce and piled high on toasted garlic bread for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices Italian bread, thick-cut
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (for garlic butter)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  4. While the sauce simmers, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Mix well.
  6. Spread garlic butter evenly on both sides of the Italian bread slices.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and toasted.
  8. Spoon the beef mixture generously onto the toasted garlic bread slices.
  9. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For an extra cheesy experience, add a slice of mozzarella or provolone cheese on top of the beef mixture before sprinkling with Parmesan.
