Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, and black pepper. Set aside.
  2. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. While macaroni is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour honey pepper mixture over the chicken and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, creating a roux.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
  7. Reduce heat to low and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Add cooked macaroni and honey pepper chicken to the cheese sauce. Stir to combine.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, try adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the honey pepper glaze.
