Homemade Butter Pecan Ice Cream: A Taste of Nostalgia

This butter pecan ice cream recipe is easy to make and tastes amazing!

  • 1 1/2 cups pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spread pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until lightly toasted. Let cool. Roughly chop.
  3. While the pecans are cooling, melt 1 cup sugar and butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in pecans.
  4. Spread pecan mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let cool completely. Break into small pieces.
  5. Whisk cream, milk, sugar, and salt in a bowl until sugar is dissolved. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Pour cream mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions.
  7. Layer ice cream and pecan brittle in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
